Swiss haute horology company Richard Mille has just unveiled its new RM 11-05. The watch is crafted out of Cermet, a material commonly used in ballistic protection, external aerospace fuselage components, and in the brakes of competition vehicles.

Created using a process known as flash sintering, which involves a combination of classic hot stamping and a series of electrical current pulses, the gray Cermet boasts incredible mechanical properties, being lighter and lower in density than titanium but almost just as hard as diamond, measuring in at 2,360 Vickers. The rest of the watch is completed with titanium screws, a carbon TPT caseband and a grade 5 titanium caseback. Powering the watch is a calibre RMAC3, a skeletonized automatic movement with complications such as a flyback chronograph, GMT function, an annual calendar, a variable-geometry rotor, and a power reserve of up to 55 hours depending on your chronograph usage.

For those interested, Richard Mille’s new grey Cermet RM 11-05 will be available sometime this month, limited to just 140 units made and priced at approximately $210,000 USD. Head over to the brand’s website to learn more.

Elsewhere in watches, Timex is now making its Pac-Man T80 a general release. Read Full Article
